Reviving News Deserts
Have You Noticed a Decline in Local News and Information in Southern Oregon?
It’s becoming a widespread issue across the US, and it’s affecting our ability to build strong and functioning communities. But there’s hope.
The best way to improve local news and civic health is to involve the communities most impacted. That’s why the University of Oregon researchers are surveying residents to understand how people like you get their information. We want to know what news sources you trust, what information is essential to you, and how informed you feel about what’s going on in your community.
Your input will play a crucial role in helping us understand the information needs of your community. Please consider taking a few minutes to share your thoughts, as your contribution will make a big difference!
A team from the School of Journalism & Communication at the UO will also be collecting insights from the community on Mar. 3–4. We invite interested community members to register here, then share your thoughts about local media at Catalyst Ashland, 357 E. Main Street.
